Women's Basketball Cruises Past Potsdam, 67-43

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team improved to 16-5 overall and 11-3 in SUNYAC play on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Potsdam, 67-43.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Geneseo was locked in a tightly contested first quarter, as both teams traded leads and struggled to find score at times. The Knights were able to take a one-point lead at 8-7 into the second quarter, behind a late jumper from Kelly McLaughlin and four points from Lauren Romito.
  • The offense found its rhythm in the second quarter, as Geneseo dropped 23 points in the period behind 44 percent shooting from the field.
  • Leading by 12 after halftime, the Knights continued their offensive momentum in the third quarter and extended their lead by scoring 19. Geneseo finished with 67 points in the game, while the defense held strong and limited Potsdam to 43.

QUICK FACTS
  • Kerry Dennin and Romito both finished with double-doubles, with Dennin tallying 17 points and 11 rebounds and Romito recording 14 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Hannah Stockman chipped in 10 points on 2-3 shooting from behind the arc as well as three steals.
  • The Knights grabbed 45 rebounds on the day, compared to just 29 from the Bears.
