GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team fell to the visiting Cortland Red Dragons 77-64 on Saturday afternoon. The Knights finished the regular season 18-7 overall and 13-5 against SUNYAC competition. Prior to the start of the game, the Knights honored their four seniors, Madison Hoyt, Taylor Hansen, Hannah Stockman, and Lauren Romito, with a short ceremony.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights turned the opening tip into a quick Kiley Snow layup and ran with the momentum, taking an 11-1 lead just over three minutes into the game. The team went up by as much as twelve, but the Red Dragons cut it to a four-point game by the end of the quarter.
- The second quarter began with another flashy play, this time with a steal from Taylor Hansen leading to a layup by Kerry Dennin. Key shots in the paint put up by Lauren Romito along with late free-throws from Kelly McLaughlin kept the score close despite the Red Dragons taking their first lead late in the half.Â
- Geneseo came out of halftime down 37-30, and continued to trail despite made threes from Madison Hoyt and Mackenzie Reigle. Solid offense towards the end of the third quarter drew the Knights closer but the team entered the fourth down 57-46.Â
- The Knights were unable to retake the lead in the final quarter, eventually falling to the Red Dragons, 77-64.Â

- Romito led the Knights in points (17) and rebounds (9) in the contest.Â
- Also adding to the point totals for Geneseo were Snow (13) and Reigle (11).Â
- The Knights scored more points in the paint (36-28) and had more steals (11-5) than the visiting Red Dragons.
