GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team couldn't pull out a senior day victory against Cortland on Saturday afternoon, as they fell to the Red Dragons, 67-60. The Knights honored their pair of seniors,
Harrison Dignan and
Kevin Ranaghan, with a short pre-game ceremony.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo came out strong, taking a double-digit lead less than 10 minutes into the action. The Knights went on a 10-2 run powered by three's from Harrison Dignan and Ethan St. Lucia to go up 24-14 at the 10:45 mark.
- The Red Dragons quickly fired back with a run of their own, and regained the lead 28-27. However, St. Lucia stepped up for Geneseo and delivered eight straight points to make it a 37-33 advantage for the Knights. A pair of free throws from Sebastian Pacheco capped off the scoring for the half and Geneseo took a six-point lead into the break.
- Cortland picked up seven unanswered points to open up the second half, and never looked back as they quickly extended the lead to 10 points.
- Cole Kattan drained a couple of big three point shots down the stretch to close the gap, but the Knights couldn't complete the comeback and fell, 67-60.
