Women's Basketball Caps Off First Semester With 68-65 Win Over RIT

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team earned an exciting 68-65 win over RIT on Saturday afternoon to close out their first semester of play. The Knights improved to 5-3 overall with the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights came out hot on offense, jumping ahead 10-2 in the first three and a half of minutes of the game. Audrey Hintz and Kerry Dennin combined for eight of those points to get the Knights rolling. A couple of late baskets from Kiley Snow helped Geneseo hang on for a four point lead heading to the second quarter.
  • The Tigers answered back in the second quarter, finding their rhythm and then draining a three at the end of the half to earn a five-point advantage heading into the locker rooms.
  • Geneseo came out of the break firing, going on a 9-0 run early in the third quarter to regain the lead. The Knights then closed out the quarter with a big momentum shifter as a steal from Dennin led to a last second layup from Snow to give them a 51-49 lead going into the final 10 minutes.
  • The Knights kept their momentum going in the fourth quarter, expanding the lead to 61-53 after the first five minutes. RIT slowly chipped away at the lead, but strong defense from Geneseo down the stretch secured the 68-65 victory.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Snow led the offensive production with 18 points, she leads the team in points per game at 13.5. Snow also chipped in three blocks, assists, and rebounds.
  • Joining Snow in double digit scoring was Mackenzie Reigle (13), Dennin (12), Hannah Stockman (12), and Hintz (11).
  • Dennin led the rebounding effort with 12, marking her third double-double in the last four games.
