Men's Hockey Extend Win Streak to Four After Shutout Against Buffalo State

Geneseo, N.Y.- The SUNY Geneseo men's hockey team destroyed the Buffalo State Bengals tonight, tallying their second shutout if the weekend. The Ice Knights improved to 11-2-0 on the season and 6-1-0 in State University of New York Conference (SUNYAC) play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Tyson Gilmour tallied their first goal of the night at 10:02, getting the assist from Stefan Miklakos and Teddy Purcell on the powerplay.
  • Four minutes later, sophomore Alex Dameski found the back of the net on a beautiful pass from Gilmour while on a powerplay. With him on the assist was junior Peter Morgan.  
  • With a minute left in the period, Dakota Zarundy notched the teams third goal. Assisting on the play was Alex Wilkins and Stefan Miklakos.
  • The Ice Knights kept their momentum in the second, scoring at 8:59. Stefan Miklakos finally tallied his first goal of the night after assisting on two others. He was helped by fellow goal scorers from this game Tyson Gilmour and Dakota Zarundy.
  • Peter Morgan added one last goal at 8:48 in the third. Assisting him on the ice was Alex Dameski and Tyson Gilmour, who tallied their second and fourth point of the night respectively.
  • The game ended with a final score of Geneseo 5, Buff State 0.
 
QUICK FACTS:
  • First-year goaltender Jacob Torger started in net for Geneseo and earned his second collegiate shutout, recording a perfect 30 saves on 30 shots on goal and making it his second shut out of the weekend. 
  • During this game, Alex Dameski, Dakota Zarundy and Peter Morgan tallied two points each, Stefan Miklakos tallied three and grad student Tyson Gilmour ended the night with four points.
