GENESEO, N.Y. - The Geneseo women's volleyball team lost their first match of the Geneseo Tournament on Friday, Nov. 3. The Knights went up against Carnegie Mellon University, who escaped with a 3-1 victory. Geneseo now sits at an even 12-12 record this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set remained close early, with Geneseo down 8-5. The small deficit quickly turned into 14-5 as Geneseo could not seem to get their offense rolling.The highlight of the set was a block from Madison Gamberg and Sommer Madigan at 24-14. The Knights lost the first set 25-15.
- After an unusual first set for Geneseo, they found their footing in the second. Jenna Garvey served the first four points of the game, as the Knights claimed three early points. Madison Popielski had a good serving run as Geneseo pushed their lead to 17-10. To end the set, Linda Rossi recorded a kill to give the Knights a 25-19 victory in the second.Â
- In the third set, Carnegie Mellon came back strong. They had a 12-8 lead which suddenly expanded into 17-8. The Knights didn't have enough time to respond, and dropped the set 25-18.Â
- Geneseo refused to go down without a fight in the fourth. The set was as tight as could be throughout, with no team able to gain an advantage of more than a few points. Sadly for the Knights, they dropped two points at the end, and lost the set 29-27, and the match 3-1.Â

The Knights will continue tournament play tomorrow (11/4) with a game against RIT at 3pm in the Schrader Gym. It is their last match before beginning the SUNYAC tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
