Men's Hockey Defeats #5 Oswego 2-1

Oswego, N.Y.- The Geneseo men's hockey team added an important road victory at SUNY Oswego on Saturday. Ice Knights' goaltender Adam Harris's impressive 32 save performance helped Geneseo improve to a record of 7-1-0 and 4-1-0 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Geneseo forward Peter Morgan earned a short-handed penalty shot with 2:32 left in the first period. Morgan faked out the Oswego goaltender and sent a wrist shot into the back of the net, converting the penalty shot attempt and giving the Ice Knights an early lead.
  • Just over halfway into the second period, the Ice Knights expanded their lead to 2-0. Geneseo forward Andrew Bruno laid a booming hit that gave Jared Thomas a wide-open slap shot attempt. Thomas's initial shot was saved, but Bruno crashed the net pushed the puck past the Oswego goaltender. Zach Rehbaum was also awarded an assist on the play.
  • With 12:42 left in the third period, Adam Harris made an outstanding save to hold the Ice Knights lead to 2-0. Harris shifted across his crease and extended his body to deny the Lakers forward an easy tap-in goal.
  • Oswego scored their only goal of the night with 3:20 left in the final period. The Lakers were unable to find a tying goal, and the Ice Knights defense remained resilient until the final whistle.
