Women's Soccer Come Out On Top Against Plattsburgh

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team traveled to Plattsburgh in the first round of the SUNYAC playoffs and came away with a 4-0 victory on Saturday afternoon. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Geneseo's offense came out firing in the first half as they recorded six shots and two corner kicks in the first 45 minutes of action.
  • Tricia Curran found the back of the net first for the Knights in the 11th minute of action to put them up 1-0 early in the first period.
  • Less than eight minutes later, Liv Raucci put up a shot and added to the lead unassisted. 
  • The Knights' defense also held their own as they only allowed the Cardinals to record one shot before halftime.
  • Coming out of the half, Geneseo's offensive attack remained in control as they tallied twelve shots and one corner kick.
  • Just over six minutes into the second half, Abby Foster recorded the Knights' third score of the day. 
  • The team was able to run the score up even further as Raucci added another goal with the help of an assist from Foster.
  • Junior goalkeeper Mollie Collins played the first 83 minutes in net and tallied one save in the matchup.
QUICK FACTS
  • Raucci (9), and midfielders Foster (2), Curran (2), Lindsey Matthews (2), and Dana Schoeps (2) each tallied multiple shots in the matchup. 
  • Raucci also led the squad with six shots on-goal in the matchup, as well. 
  • Collins' save in the game brought her season total to 51.
WHAT'S NEXT 
The Knights will move on to the SUNYAC semifinals and face off once against the #5 seed Brockport Golden Eagles on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
