GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo field hockey team fell just short in an out of conference game on Saturday afternoon against the University of Rochester, falling 3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A couple of early shots for the Knights put some pressure on U of R, but a solid effort from Rochester's defense kept Geneseo out of the goal.
- Geneseo's defense was equally tough in the first quarter, blocking Rochester's only two shots, leaving the score tied at 0-0 going into the second quarter.
- Midway through the second quarter U of R scored their first goal to take a 1-0 lead.
- Geneseo kept pushing on offense, managing to get five shots in the second quarter, but they just missed, giving Rochester the lead 1-0 going into the second half.
- Down by one, Geneseo's defensive efforts were outstanding in the third quarter, not giving Rochester a single shot.
- However, the Knights were still having trouble finding the goal, and the score remained 1-0 in favor of Rochester heading into the final minutes of the game.
- Geneseo gave up two goals in the last quarter off Rochester's eight shots.
- Rochester managed to hold Geneseo to 0 shots in the last quarter, securing the win for themselves at 3-0.
