CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Geneseo women's volleyball team lost a close match against Cortland on Friday, Oct. 27, nearly handing the Red Dragons their first SUNYAC defeat of the season as the Knights fell in five sets. Geneseo's record now sits at 11-11 overall and 6-2 in SUNYAC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set began very evenly matched, with both teams tying at 6. From there, Geneseo maintained a slim lead until 25-24, when Cortland took the lead. The Red Dragons held on and squeaked out a 27-25 victory.
- The second set was quite different, as the Knights maintained control from early on and carried it to the finish line. Jenna Garvey, Madison Popielski, Cecilia Dignan, and Carolyn Mack all recorded an ace in Geneseo's 25-20 win.
- In the third set, the Knights found themselves stuck at six points, suddenly behind 20-6. Geneseo captured a few more points, but ultimately lost 25-13.
- The fourth set started slow for Geneseo, down 7-0 from the start. However, Geneseo completed their comeback, tying the score at 14. At set point, Cortland recorded an attack error, giving Geneseo a fourth-set win and forcing the fifth and deciding set.
- Geneseo was unable to bounce back from a slow start in the fifth set and ultimately dropped the deciding set 15-11.
