DALLAS, P.A. - The Geneseo women's volleyball team played in two matches on Saturday, Oct. 21. They traveled to Dallas, PA where they would play Manhattanville College and Misericordia University. The Knights were defeated by Manhattanville, 3-2, but dominated Misericordia, 3-0. The win against Misericordia marked head coach

Geneseo vs Manhattanville
- The Knights found themselves down early, and were unable to recover. A highlight, however, was Sommer Madigan recording back-to-back kills with assists from Jenna Garvey. Geneseo lost the set 25-13.
- The second set was far better for the Knights. Things kicked off with an ace from Zooey Gagnier, as she found an open spot on the court. Opposite of the first set, Geneseo found themselves with a commanding lead early, and rode it to the end. The set ended 25-17, after an error by Manhattanville.
- The second set gave Geneseo some momentum going into the third, and they took advantage. Linda Rossi served eight in a row, giving the Knights a 15-2 lead, which was more than enough. The Knights put the third set away 25-13 after another error.
- The fourth set was neck-and-neck the entire way, as both teams knew that the match could be done. Three consecutive aces from Garvey tied the set at 24-24, and play wasn't done yet. It continued to go back and forth until Manhattanville finally claimed a 28-26 win.
- The fifth set stayed close for its entirety. Unfortunately for the Knights, they lost the set 15-12, and the match 3-2.
Geneseo vs Misericordia
- The first set did not start according to plan for the Knights as they quickly found themselves down 5-0. The tables turned for Geneseo as they caught up and took a steady lead. Linda Rossi came through with a big kill to end the set 25-14.
- Geneseo refused to lay off the gas in the second set, taking a 10-5 lead early. The Knights did a great job keeping the energy up and forcing their opponents to make mistakes. For set point, Jenna Garvey recorded an ace for the Knights, sealing the second set 25-16.
- Ready to end the match, Geneseo came out electric for the third set. Dignan served eight in a row, including three consecutive aces. Madison Popielski sealed the match with a kill, giving Geneseo a commanding 25-10 win.
QUICK FACTS
- In the first match, Cecilia Dignan led the defense with 16 digs, and Julia Wallace recorded 12 kills, helping the offense.
- In the later match, Dignan recorded 6 aces, and Carolyn Mack tallied 3.
- Head Coach Hunter Drews recorded her 100th career win as head coach of the Knights with the sweep against Misericordia.

The Knights will be on the road as they will continue SUNYAC play. Geneseo will be in Cortland for a 6 p.m. matchup on Friday, Oct. 27.
