NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo field hockey team couldn't pull out a tough SUNYAC road matchup on Saturday afternoon, as they fell to New Paltz 2-1 in double overtime. The Knights are now 10-5 on the season and 3-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- Geneseo's offense came out strong, tallying three shots in the opening frame with two on target, but the Hawks kept the score knotted at 0-0.
- New Paltz was able to break the tie in the second quarter, and take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
- The Knights took advantage of their only shot in the fourth quarter, as Katrina Clare forced overtime with a goal at the 58 minute mark.
- After a scoreless first overtime, the Hawks were able to escape with the win in the second overtime.
QUICK FACTS:
- Clare scored her 12th goal of the season, moving her into 13th all-time for goals in a season.
- Sarah Quinlan played all 74 minutes in goal and tallied nine saves.
