Field Hockey Defeats Keuka, 6-1

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo field hockey team added another non-conference win today at Keuka College and improve their record to 10-4 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Though Geneseo had a few open looks, it was a slow start for both teams, with neither able to add a goal in the first quarter.
  • Shannon Cunningham got the scoring started for the game off of an assist from Sam Lewis in the second quarter.
  • Another goal, this time from Sara O'Donnell, gave the Knights a 2-0 lead heading into the second half.
  • Within the first two minutes of the second half, Katrina Clare made the game 3-0 in favor of the Knights off of an assist from Shannon Cunningham.
  • Keuka finally fired back with a goal on one of their only two shots for the quarter to make it a 3-1 game going into the final 15 minutes.
  • Midway through the fourth quarter, Geneseo was able to find the back of the cage again with three goals by Hanna Pochobradsky, Katrina Clare, and Ella Greico.  Clare was assisted by Kyra Giannelli and Greico was assisted by Ada Roe.
  • Impressive defense from the Knights held the Wolves to only three shots on goal and helped to seal the 6-1 win for Geneseo.

  • Geneseo's defense held Keuka to 0 shots in two quarters.
  • The Knights had 43 shots to Keuka's 3.
  • Geneseo nearly tripled Keuka's number of penalty corners.
