GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team picked up an important victory in the rain against SUNY Potsdam Saturday afternoon. The Knights move to 7-5-3 on the season and 3-3-1 in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Geneseo scored the first goal of the game in the 13th minute. The Knights were awarded a free kick that Vasion Sinjari crossed into the box. Stefen Nikolic one-timed the cross into the back of Potsdam net, giving Geneseo an early lead.
- Potsdam would tie the score in the 22nd minute on a shot from outside of the box that floated into the top corner of the net.
- The Knights struck again just before half. In the 44th minute, Joe Vogt played a looping cross into the box from half field that found Liam Mulderig's foot. Mulderig one-timed Vogt's cross and placed the ball into the back of the net.
- Mulderig scored again just after halftime. Liam Mulderig and Tyler Lewandowski connected on a give-and-go passing sequence that sent Mulderig on a breakaway in the 47th minute. Mulderig converted the breakaway, which made the score 3-1 Knights.
- In the final 30 seconds of play, Geneseo goalkeeper Vincent Maronski Jr. stopped a penalty kick that was shot by the Potsdam forward. Vincent Maronski jr. then punted the ball up to Eren Aydin who slotted the ball into the net, making the final score Geneseo 4, Potsdam 1.
QUICK FACTS:
- Vincent Maronski Jr. recorded his first career point as a goalkeeper when he assisted Eren Aydin for the Knight's fourth goal.
- Liam Mulderig's back-to-back two goal performances bring his season total up to seven goals, making him the Knights' second highest scorer.

The Geneseo Knights (7-5-3) will travel to SUNY Brockport to take on the Golden Eagles Wednesday, October 18
th at 7 p.m. The Knights will play in their second to last SUNYAC game of the season against Brockport.
