GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team hosted SUNY Oswego on Wednesday afternoon.
Liam Mulderig's two-goal game resulted in a 2-2- draw that gives Geneseo an overall record of 6-5-3 and 2-3-1 in SUNYAC (State University of New York Athletic Conference) play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Defenses were dominant in the first half of the game, there was only a combined four shots on target in the first 45 minutes of play.
- The game had its first goal in the 62nd minute when Graduate Student Liam Mulderig was taken down in the opposing team's box for a Geneseo penalty kick. Mulderig stepped up for the penalty kick and blasted the ball into the net, making the score 1-0 Geneseo.
- The Oswego Lakers would tie the game in the 73rd minute when an outside of the box shot from the Oswego forward would find the inside of Geneseo's net (Geneseo 1, Oswego 1).
- Liam Mulderig found himself on the scoresheet once again in the 85th minute thanks to another solo effort. Liam stole the ball from the Oswego defender, dribbled down the field and slotted the ball into the far-right corner with his left foot.Â
- The game would be equalized in the 86th minute when Oswego scored on a cross that came from a corner kick. The game would end Geneseo 2, Oswego 2.
QUICK FACTS:
- Liam Mulderig is now Geneseo's second leading scorer, tallying a total of five goals throughout the 2023 season so far.
- Vincent Maronski Jr. started at goalkeeper for the Knights and recorded a total of four saves. This brings Maronski's season total to 47 saves in 14 games played.
- The Geneseo Knights now lead the Oswego Lakers 40-25-10 in all time men's soccer competitions.

The Geneseo Knights men's soccer team (6-5-3) will host SUNY Potsdam on Saturday, October 14
th at 12 p.m. at College Stadium. Saturday's game will be another SUNYAC battle, which gives the Knights a chance to improve their conference record (2-3-1).
