BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team kicked off the second half of their season with a bang as they cruised past Brockport, 75-42. Senior forward
Lauren Romito led the Knights with 26 points and 12 rebounds to help the team improve to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in SUNYAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights jumped ahead early on the Golden Eagles, taking a 9-2 lead just over five minutes into the action. Geneseo capped off the high scoring quarter with a last second layup from senior guard Hannah Stockman, making it a 19-14 advantage after the opening quarter.
- Stockman's layup gave the Knights a big momentum boost for the second quarter, as they went on to dominate play before halftime by out-scoring Brockport 20-7 in the frame, taking a 39-21 lead into the locker room.
- Geneseo never let the Golden Eagles near a comeback attempt, as they pushed the lead to 27 points near the end of the third off a layup from Romito. The Knights went to win by 33 points to secure their third conference victory.
QUICK FACTS
- Romito tallied her fifth double-double of the season, and her second-highest point total behind her 27-point performance against Fredonia on Dec. 3.
- Junior guard Kiley Snow tacked on 15 points, while Stockman also reached double-digits at 13. Junior forward Kerry Dennin nabbed 12 rebounds.
- The Knights have now won five-straight against Brockport and 11 of the last 12 matchups.
