BUFFALO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team traveled to Buffalo St. on Tuesday evening, and pulled out an overtime victory, 82-74. The win improved the Knights to 9-10 overall and 6-6 in SUNYAC action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half was closely contested by the two teams, with the lead being changed six times during the 20 minute period. The largest advantage held by either team was five points, and the Knights took a four-point lead into the second half.
- The Bengals came out strong after halftime, quickly taking a four-point lead of their own. Sebastian Pacheco and Cole Kattan helped Geneseo regain the lead by scoring 10 straight points for the Knights, but once again Buffalo St. was able to find their way to the lead.
- With just over four minutes left to play, Geneseo was trailing by four points at 60-56. Three free throws from Pacheco and baskets from Ethan St. Lucia and Kevin Ranaghan helped the Knights take back the lead, but Buffalo St. was able to drain a three-point shot with one second left to force overtime.
- Despite the large momentum at the end of regulation, the Knights dominated overtime, outscoring the Bengals 82-74.
QUICK FACTS
- Cole Kattan dropped a season-high 30 points for the Knights, and added 14 rebounds to make it a monster double-double. Pacheco added 21 points of his own.
- Geneseo was aggressive all night long, and made the trip to the charity stripe 42 times, converting 33 attempts for a percentage of 78.6.
- The Knights are now 14-6 in their last 20 games against Buffalo St., and are on a four-game win streak.
