GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's ice hockey team picked up a 3-1 victory over Potsdam on Friday night at the Ira S. Wilson Arena.
Diarmad DiMurro netted the game-winner for the Knights with under five minutes left to play in the game, improving Geneseo's record to 13-4-2 and 7-2-1 in SUNYAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After struggling to put shots on goal in a scoreless first period, the Knights sent a flurry of offense at the Bears goal in the second period. Geneseo recorded 17 shots on goal in the second period, and found the back of the net off the stick of Stefan Miklakos.
- Potsdam was able to tie the score at 1-1 off a power play just before the third period, and used that momentum to keep the Knights off the scoreboard for most of the final 20 minutes.
- With under five minutes left to play, Bryan Zurowski won a faceoff that led to Peter Morgan taking the puck through the Bears defense and setting up Diarmad DiMurro to send it past the Potsdam goalkeeper and give the Knights the 2-1 advantage.
- Mitch Machlitt sealed the win for Geneseo with a goal at thirty seconds remaining to play, as the Knights tallied their third-straight win.
