Impressive Second Half Leads Men's Basketball To 71-65 Win Against Brockport

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team ended its two-game skid on Friday night as they defeated Brockport, 71-65. Solid defense along with some timely shots in the second half drove the Knights to victory as they snapped the Golden Eagles eight-game winning streak. Geneseo improved to 8-10 and 5-6 in SUNYAC play with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Geneseo struggled to lock down Brockport early, facing a 10-2 deficit after five minutes and trailed by as many as 12 points in the half.
  • The Knights hung in to bring the score to within five at the break, due in large part to a successful and-one by Harrison Dignan, followed by two threes by Ethan St. Lucia and Sebastian Pacheco. The run from the Knights led to nine straight points towards the end of the first half, bringing the score to 36-31.
  • Geneseo came out of halftime strong, and brought the score to within two after a pair of three-pointers by Michael Gentile with 12 minutes left in the game.
  • The Knights took their first lead of the game with 9:53 left in the second half with a layup by Ethan St. Lucia after an impressive pass and assist from Kevin Ranaghan to make the score 53-52.
  • The lead went back-and-forth throughout the final minutes of the game, with Brockport re-taking their lead for the last time with 3:11 left.
  • Up by two, Geneseo forced a shot-clock violation with 1:00 left in the game. They went on to make four free-throws to seal their 71-65 win over the Golden Eagles.
