Men's Ice Hockey Shuts Out Hamilton, 3-0

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's ice hockey team picked up a shutout victory over Hamilton on Saturday evening, as they improved to 12-4-2 overall with the 3-0 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Knights took advantage of the first penalty of the game, as Cooper Fensterstock found the back of the net halfway through the first period. Tyson Gilmour and Justin Cmunt assisted on the power play goal.
  • The second period saw a lot of action from both teams, but with time winding down in the period the score remained 1-0. Domenic Garozzo broke the scoreless period with 20 seconds left to play, cleaning up a battle for the puck in front of the goal.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Adam Harris and the Knights defense kept the Continentals offense off the scoreboard in the third period, and after an empty net goal from Fensterstock, Geneseo secured the shutout victory.

QUICK FACTS
  • Harris tallied his second shutout of the season, and tallied 29 saves in his second win in goal.
  • Fensterstock recorded his first and second goals of the season, while Garozzo netted his 11th goal of the year to bring him even with Peter Morgan for the team lead in goals.
  • Geneseo now has four shutouts on the season, and entered the weekend top in the top 5 in the NCAA in scoring defense.
