Women's Basketball Tripped Up By New Paltz

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team came up short against New Paltz in Schrader Gym on Saturday afternoon, as they fell by a score of 64-46. With the loss, Geneseo sits at 9-5 overall and 4-3 in the SUNYAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Hawks got off to a fast start offensively, scoring on their opening three possessions for a 6-0 advantage. Geneseo quickly answered with baskets from Mackenzie Reigle and Hannah Stockman, but New Paltz was able to take a 10-point advantage into the second quarter.
  • The Knights improved on the offensive end in the second quarter, scoring 16 points, but couldn't hold off the Hawks and still faced a double-digit deficit.
  • Geneseo quickly cut the lead to seven points in the third quarter with a pair of free throws from Lauren Romito and a basket from Taylor Hansen, but New Paltz wouldn't allow a comeback attempt to get any closer and held on for the 64-46 victory.

QUICK FACTS
  • Hansen led the team offensively with 14 points on 6-10 shooting from the field, while Reigleadded 13 of her own.
  • Kerry Dennin chipped in a team-high six rebounds and Romito tallied a game-high three blocks.

The Knights will look to get back in the win column next weekend when they travel to Potsdam and Plattsburgh.
