GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team ended its five-game skid in dramatic fashion on Saturday afternoon as they pulled out a one-point victory over New Paltz, 66-65. A pair of free throws by
Kevin Ranaghan in the final minute proved to be the winning points for the Knights as they improved to 6-8 overall and 3-4 in SUNYAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo came out hot from behind the arc, draining six three-pointers in the opening seven minutes as they took a 10-point lead at 26-16 following a deep ball from Kip Dallaris.
- The Hawks were able to keep pace with the Knights for the majority of the half, and ended up being able to take a one-point lead into halftime at 44-43 following a three-point shot in the final 30 seconds.
- Geneseo led by as many as eight points midway through the second half, but New Paltz launched a furious comeback and was able to take a three-point lead with 1:40 left to play. Ranaghan put the Knights back within one point on the following possession, then after a steal from Kip Dallaris, Ranaghan drew a foul and drained back-to-back free throws to give Geneseo the lead.
- The Hawks had three chances to win the game in the final 30 seconds, with one being taken away by the Knights defense drawing a charge. Geneseo held on for the 66-65 victory following a miss on a contested layup in the final seconds.
QUICK FACTS
- Raymond Grabowski led the Knights with 19 points, while Cole Kattan added 18 and Ranaghan chipped in 14.
- Harrison Dignan filled the stat sheet with a team-high eight rebounds, six assists, five steals, and four points.
- Geneseo has now won five of the last six against New Paltz and 16 of the last 20.

The Knights will look to keep their momentum rolling into next weekend as they travel to Potsdam and Plattsburgh.
