Raucci's Hat Trick Powers Women's Soccer Past Nazareth

GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior forward Liv Raucci tallied three goals as the Knights earned a 5-0 victory over visiting Nazareth on Tuesday night at College Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Geneseo opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Ashleigh Scheidweiler picked up a quick throw-in and Hannah Sullivan combined with Lindsey Wright, creating a through ball for McKinley Skala. Skala timed her run perfectly for a breakaway, slotting the right-footed shot in the far side netting to make it 1-0.
  • Just over 10 minutes later, Sullivan fed Lindsey Wright just outside the six-yard box where Wright took a quick first touch and struck a left-footed shot past the keeper, making it 2-0.
  • Raucci scored her first goal in the 36th minute when Dana Schoeps triggered a counter attack with a long clear to Juliette Frischmann, who centered to Raucci for the open shot and goal just outside the 18-yard box as Geneseo entered halftime leading, 3-0.
  • In the second half, Raucci tallied in the 65th minute and again in the 71st to complete her hat trick as the Knights rolled past the Golden Flyers, 5-0.

QUICK FACTS
  • Raucci tallied her second-career multi-goal game and the Knights' first hat trick of the season.
  • Raucci becomes just the second active Knight to have a hat trick, joining Nicole Bell who scored three times against Potsdam on Oct. 15, 2021.
  • Wright finished with a goal and an assist while Skala tallied a goal as well. Sullivan finished with two assists, tying Wright for the team lead with three each.
  • Angel Bennett earned the shutout in goal, making a pair of saves to preserve the clean sheet.
