ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer couldn't make it to seven-straight wins on Tuesday evening, falling on the road to Rochester, 2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Yellowjackets got on the board early, converting a header off a rebound from a saved shot. The Knights looked to bounce back and tie the game in the first half, but a shot from senior forward Tyler Lewandowski in the 30th minute was saved and Rochester was able to take the one-goal lead into halftime.
- Geneseo continued to try and press the attack to score the equalizer, but the Yellowjackets were able to add an insurance goal in the 75th minute.
- The Knights were able to find the back of the net in the 85th minute, but couldn't score a second to earn the tie. Sophomore forward Vasion Sinjari took a free kick that found sophomore defender Joe Vogt in the box, who sent it past the goalkeeper into the lower right corner.
QUICK FACTS
- The late second-half goal marked the first of Vogt's career, and Sinjari's fifth career assist.
- Senior goalkeeper Will Price played all 90 minutes in goal and tallied six saves.
- The loss snapped the Knights longest win streak since the 2008 season, when the team won nine-straight.
