Women's Tennis Battles Tough Competition At St. Lawrence Invitational

Box Score CANTON, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team traveled to St. Lawrence this weekend to face off against some tough competition in a two-day invitational.

In singles action on Saturday, the Knights picked up a few wins with junior Alex Galle earning two wins in the "A" flight consolation draw. Galle defeated St. Lawrence 8-3 and RIT 8-6. Seniors Meghan Heeney and Abigail Rockwood also picked up singles victories, both defeating RIT. Heeney took out the Tigers in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (2), while Rockwood cruised to an 8-2 win.

Geneseo continued their strong play on Sunday in doubles, picking up a pair of wins over RIT. Rockwood and sophomore Julia Paolino won 8-7 in the "A" flight consolation draw, while Galle and senior Kylie Seiler took down the Tigers 8-1 in the same draw.

The Knights will hope to improve to 2-0 in SUNYAC play with a road matchup against Oswego on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
