Men's Soccer Earns Sixth-Straight Victory With 6-0 Win over Hilbert

GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo Men's Soccer team earned its sixth-straight victory, defeating Hilbert, 6-0 on Saturday at College Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Tyler Lewandowski tallied the Knights' first two scores, taking a breakaway past the keeper and into the open net for his first and then bending in a 25-yard shot from outside the box for his second.
  • The Knights took a 3-0 lead when senior forward Liam Mulderig sent a perfect cross to senior midfielder Justin Arilotta, who headed it home on the back post.
  • First-year forward Dylan Thody added to the tally with a 30-yard strike in the 39th minute, giving the Knights a 4-0 lead heading into the halftime break.
  • In the second half, Lewandowski completed his hat trick as sophomore forward Caden Brunken found him with an incisive pass at the top of the box for a goal.
  • Tyler Axelsen added a goal on an outstanding individual effort late in the game as the Knights extended the advantage to 6-0.

QUICK FACTS
  • Tyler Lewandowski earned the first hat trick in program history since Gavin Gleasman scored three goals against St. John Fisher in 2018.
  • Justin Arilotta finished with a goal and an assist as seven Knights registered at least one point in the game.
  • Geneseo utilized all three goalkeepers as Will Price earned the start, while Vincent Maronski and Jason Sicoli each saw time in net as well. None of them faced a shot as the Knights' defense held Hilbert without a shot on goal.
  • The six-game winning streak marks the Knights' longest since the 2008 season when the team won nine-consecutive games. It's the Knights' first six-game unbeaten streak since 2015 (3-0-3).
