Men's Soccer Earns Road Victory at Alfred, 3-0

ALFRED, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo Men's Soccer team earned its third-straight victory as it claimed a 3-0 win over host Alfred on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Early in the game, Geneseo took a 1-0 lead as senior midfielder Liam Mulderig gained space on the right flank and fired a cross in toward the penalty spot. Sophomore midfielder Stefen Nikolic met the cross and volleyed it home for a goal.
  • Just before the halftime whistle, Geneseo earned a corner kick. On the ensuing play, Justin Arilotta hammered home a loose ball from inside the six-yard box as the Knights took a 2-0 lead into the break.
  • In the waning minutes, the Knights produced a buildup from the back that finished with sophomore defender Maxwell Fiorica streaking through the center of the field and laying off a pass to sophomore midfielder Vasion Sinjari, who fired it past the keeper to put the Knights ahead 3-0 in the final minute of play.

QUICK FACTS
  • The Knights outshot the Saxons, 17-5, as senior Will Price made one save to produce his third shutout of the season. Price has allowed just one goal over the Knights' four-game winning streak, conceding on a penalty kick against RIT.
  • Arilotta, Nikolic and Sinjari each tallied their first goal of the season while Mulderig earned his first assist of the year.
  • Geneseo matched its longest winning streak since at least 2009, notching four consecutive wins for the third season in a row.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Geneseo (4-1-0) will travel to Elmira to face the Soaring Eagles on Friday, with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
