Women's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw at Desales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - SUNY Geneseo senior goalkeeper Angel Bennett made five saves to earn a shutout but the offense couldn't find the net as the Knights settled for a scoreless draw, 0-0, at Desales on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Desales outshot Geneseo, 6-4, in the first half. Junior forward Juliette Frischmann recorded the Knights' only first half shot on goal but it was turned away as the two teams went into halftime without a breakthrough.
  • The Knights came out firing in the second half, outshooting the Bulldogs, 8-5 in the final period. In the 53rd minute, Geneseo capped a nice build up play when Lindsey Matthews fired a shot on goal and Nicole Bell added a shot later in the offensive sequence, but both were saved.
  • Bennett parried away both shots on goal in the second half as the Knights' defense earned its second shutout of the season.
QUICK FACTS
  • The draw marked the first 90-minute tie result in program history as the NCAA did away with overtime in regular season contests this season.
  • Angel Bennett finished with five saves to earn her second shutout of the season and the eighth of her career.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Knights (1-2-1) will return home to host nationally-ranked William Smith on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at College Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
