Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - Senior forward Michael Gannon reached 1,000 career points in style on Friday night as he dropped 28 points to hit the milestone and lead the Knights to a key SUNYAC victory over Fredonia, 75-57.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo struggled to find its rhythm offensively early in the game as they trailed 5-3 just over five minutes into the action, but Gannon helped jump start the offense by scoring nine of the next 15 points as the Knights took an 18-13 lead.
- Gannon's explosive first-half continued later in the half as he scored 10 points in the final five minutes as Geneseo took a commanding 45-25 lead into halftime. The senior forward finished the first half with 21 points.
- Early in the second half, junior guard Harrison Dignan drove and dished out to a wide open Gannon in the corner for three points, which put the Smithtown, NY native just two points away from 1,000 point mark. A few possessions later, Gannon drew a foul underneath the basket and drained both free throws to hit the career milestone.
- The Knights went on to cruise to a double-digit victory, holding off any threats of a Fredonia comeback attempt.
