GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo Men's Basketball team opened its season at home on Tuesday night at Schrader Gymnasium, but fell to the visiting Rochester Yellowjackets,
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights jumped out to an early 6-2 lead as Raymond Grabowski drilled a pull-up jumper 2:28 into the contest. The two teams traded baskets for most of the half until the Yellowjackets pulled ahead, 24-17, with 7:09 remaining in the period.
- Senior guard Harrison Dignan drilled a three-pointer with 4:10 to go in the half to cut the Rochester lead to three points, 26-23, but the visitors finished the half on a 13-2 run, taking a 39-25 lead into the halftime break.
- In the second half, Rochester extended its lead to 18 points just under five minutes into the half but a two-handed jam by Chris Davis and a corner three from Ethan St. Lucia drew the Knights to within 11 points, 50-39, at the 12:52 mark.
- Rochester responded with a 10-0 run of their own, regaining a 60-39 advantage with 10:28 to play. The Knights continued to battle, cutting the lead to 74-58 on a layup by Kevin Ranaghan but that was as close as they would draw in the final moments.

- Junior guard Cole Kattan finished with a team-high 14 points while sophomore forward Ethan St. Lucia added 11 points.
- As a team Geneseo shot 45.3% (29-for-66) from the floor, including 50.0% (13-for-26) in the second half, but committed 23 turnovers while forcing Rochester into 16.
- Chris Davis tallied six points and a team-high seven rebounds as Davis, Michael Gentile, Andrew Morrow, Chris Sullivan and Noah Fancher each made their Geneseo debut.

Geneseo will travel to Chester, Pa. to face Widener in the opening round of the Widener Invitational Tournament on Friday, Nov. 11 at 8:00 p.m.
