Men's Basketball Comes Up Short In SUNYAC Opener At Cortland

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team began its State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) campaign on Tuesday evening at Cortland, and fell by a score of 82-62.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Following an early five-point deficit at 9-4, the Knights bounced back and took at 14-12 after Raymond Grabowski converted five points in just over a minute of action. The Cortland defense then stifled Geneseo, holding them scoreless for just over three minutes of action.
  • The Knights couldn't close the gap before halftime, and trailed by 10 after the first 20 minutes. Geneseo came out strong in the second half, going on a 9-0 scoring run and cutting the Red Dragons lead to seven points at 43-36 with 16:40 still on the clock.
  • Cortland wouldn't allow the Knights to get any closer, and was able to maintain a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game and come out with the 82-62 victory.

QUICK FACTS
  • Sebastian Pacheco led the Geneseo offense with 17 points on 7-12 shooting from the field.
  • Chris Davis nearly tallied a double double with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Andrew Morrow also chipped in a double digit performance with 11.
  • The Knights were aggressive on the offensive boards, tallying 11 rebounds and nine second chance points, compared to just seven and four, respectively, from Cortland.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Knights will return home on December 2nd and 3rd, to take on Fredonia and Buffalo St., respectively.
