CHESTER, P.A. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team earned its first victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, as they defeated Stevens, 53-51, at Widener University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Geneseo got off to a hot start, leading 9-2 less than four minutes into the action. Junior guard Cole Kattan scored four points to start the run for the Knights, and senior guard Raymond Grabowski drained a three.
  • Later in the first half, sophomore guard Kip Dallaris scored on back-to-back possessions to extend the Geneseo lead to 15 points at 21-6 with 10 minutes left to play before halftime.
  • The Knights led by as many as 21 points in the first half, but took a 35-19 lead into the locker rooms.
  • The Ducks mounted a big second half comeback, and cut the Knights lead to one point with 18 seconds to play. Following a pair of free throws from Kattan, Geneseo was able to foul Stevens with four seconds left to prevent them from hitting a game-tying shot and they held on for the 53-51 win.
