Women's Volleyball Advances To Semifinals With Dominant Victory Over Oswego

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team put together a dominant performance on Tuesday night as they defeated Oswego in the SUNYAC Quarterfinal round at home, 25-17, 25-18, 25-20.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Knights came out on the attack, taking a 13-7 lead after a kill from senior outside hitter Isabella Imbo. Geneseo never lost momentum, and did not allow Oswego to come within 3 points all set. The Knights ended the first frame with a commanding 25-17 win.
  • Geneseo took its superb play right into the second frame, quickly controlling the scoreboard 10-3 behind four kills by senior middle blocker Jackie Borland. The Lakers mounted a comeback, shortening their deficit to three towards the middle of the set, but the Knights never looked out of it. A late kill by freshman setter Carolyn Mack helped Geneseo cruise to a second-set victory, 25-18.
  • Oswego changed the pace in the third set, recording the first five points of the frame. Kills recorded by freshman outside hitter Sommer Madigan and Imbo brought Geneseo back into it, and tied the score 11-11 after six straight points. The Knights took 14 of the final 23 points, as they held the Lakers to a .022 hitting percentage in the final frame. Geneseo finished off the set and match behind a decisive kill by junior outside hitter Linda Rossi.
