GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team pulled out its first five-set victory of the season on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Oswego, 25-23, 25-18, 20-25, 22-25, 15-9.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights came out strong, taking an 11-7 lead after a kill from senior outside hitter Isabella Imbo. However, the Lakers won 15 of the next 22 points to take a four-point lead of their own at 22-18 late in the set. Back-to-back blocks from Geneseo helped fuel a five-point run that was capped off by two-straight aces from junior middle blocker Alisiana Muscoreil and the Knights pulled out a first-set victory.
- Geneseo rolled its momentum into the second set and continued to put up an impressive block and defensive effort. The Knights held the Lakers to a .040 hitting percentage in the second frame and cruised to the 25-18 win.
- Oswego was able to change up its offensive game plan and found a way to mount a comeback against the Knights, winning the third and fourth sets.
- Geneseo dominated the fifth and final set from the beginning, taking a 3-0 lead behind a kill from junior opposite Julia Wallace and a solo block from senior middle Jackie Borland. The Knights went on to win five-straight points later in the set with sophomore setter Jenna Garvey serving. Imbo sealed the five-set victory with a kill at 15-9.
QUICK FACTS
- Borland and Muscoreil were dominant out of the middle, both recoring seven kills and hitting percentages of .300 and .375, respectively. They also combined for 13 blocks.
- Junior outside hitter Linda Rossi led all offensive players with 19 kills and .351 hitting percentage. Rossi's 19 kills marked her season high.
- Senior libero Emily Haber posted a match-high 23 digs.

Geneseo will head to Potsdam on Friday, October 14 for a 6 p.m. start.
