Women's Volleyball Cruises Past Potsdam In Three Sets

POTSDAM, N.Y. -  The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team pulled out a sweep at Potsdam on Friday evening, winning by scores of 25-15, 25-20, and 25-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Knights got off to a hot start, winning five-straight points to go ahead 9-3. Junior outside Linda Rossi tallied two kills during the run, while junior middle blocker Alisiana Muscoreil put down a solo block.
  • Geneseo stayed hot in the opening set and took a 10-point advantage at 17-7 following back-to-back kills from senior middle blocker Jackie Borland. The Knights went on to win the first set 25-15.
  • Despite another early lead from Geneseo in the third set, the Bears fought back in the second set and cut the score to a three-point lead for the Knights late in the set. A kill from senior outside hitter Isabella Imbo at 23-20 set up the set point for Geneseo and they pulled out the 25-20 victory.
  • Geneseo dominated the third set, taking an 8-0 lead with junior outside hitter Madison Popielski serving and they never looked back as they won 25-7 to secure the sweep.

QUICK FACTS
  • Rossi led the offensive attack with 10 kills and a .364 hitting percentage, while Borland notched eight kills and .400 hitting percentage.
  • Sophomore setter Jenna Garvey paced the offense with 20 assists, while first-year Carolyn Mack tacked on 13 of her own.
  • Senior libero Emily Haber led the defense with 23 digs.
