PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team completed their weekend road trip on Saturday afternoon with a dominant sweep of Plattsburgh, 25-11, 25-12, and 25-14.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights never trailed in the opening frame, jumping ahead 9-1 behind two aces from sophomore setter Jenna Garvey and kills from four different players. Geneseo went on to cruise to a 25-11 victory in the first set.
- The Cardinals hung around early in the second set, only trailing by two points at 7-5. However, the Knights won the next six points to make it a 13-5 advantage. The run was capped off by a pair of blocks by the Geneseo defense, and they kept the momentum rolling en route to a 25-12 win.
- The two teams were locked in a tight battle for the third set, with the Knights holding on to a slim lead at 11-10. Once again, Geneseo put together a big run and won seven-consecutive points. The 18-10 lead proved to be too much for Plattsburgh to overcome and the Knights earned the sweep with a 25-14 win.
