OSWEGO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team couldn't pull out a comeback victory on Wednesday evening at Oswego, as they fought to a 2-2 draw.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lakers got on the board first with a goal in the 36th minute, and held off the Knights for the remainder of the half to take a 1-0 lead into the second period.
- Sophomore defender Joe Vogt tied up the game early in the second half, scoring in the bottom right corner in the 49th minute. However, Oswego quickly answered back with a goal of their own less than a minute later.
- Geneseo didn't waste their time tying the game at 2-2, as senior midfielder Adam Astarita scored in the 56th minute off a pass from sophomore midfielder Stefan Nikolic.
- The Knights continued to put the pressure on, registering 11 shots in the second half compared to just one from Oswego, but the Lakers defense held strong and forced the 2-2 draw.
QUICK FACTS
- Vogt's goal marked his second in as many games, the sophomore netted the game-winner against No. 14 Oneonta last Saturday. Astarita scored his first goal of the season, and third of his career.
- Geneseo is now 4-1-2 in their last seven games against Oswego, and now sit at 1-1-2 in the SUNYAC.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Vincent Maronski, Jr. got the start in goal and registered two saves over 90 minutes of action.
