POTSDAM, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team traveled to Clarkson on Friday afternoon to take on the Golden Knights and William Smith ahead of their SUNYAC Quarterfinal game against Oswego next week. The Knights were unable to pull out a victory and fell to the Herons, 3-1, and Clarkson, 3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Against William Smith, Geneseo opened up the match strong by taking an 8-4 lead. Junior middle blocker Alisiana Muscoreil led the fast start with two kills and a block.
- The Herons found their footing later in the set and kept the score even with the Knights until late in the set. With the score knotted at 20-20, William Smith was able to pull away with a 25-20 victory.
- Geneseo was able to rebound in the second frame behind an impressive comeback. Trailing 19-16, the Knights won 10 of the final 11 points to secure a 25-20 second set win. Julia Wallace and Jackie Borland each teamed up for two blocks and a kill to help lead Geneseo.
- The Knights were unable to keep their momentum rolling in the match and dropped the third and fourth sets, 27-25 and 25-22.
- In the second match of the day, Geneseo came up short against the hosts, falling by scores of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-21. The Knights put up a battle against the Golden Knights with multiple long rallies, but couldn't string together the points they needed to come out on top.

- Against William Smith, Muscoreil tallied a .500 hitting percentage with nine kills and 16 attempts. She then followed it up in the second match by hitting .571. Linda Rossi also recorded nine kills against the Herons, while Wallace and Borland each tacked on seven.
- Sophomore setter Jenna Garvey tallied a team high 37Â assists over the two matches, while Carolyn Mack added 21Â assists.
- Senior libero Emily Haber paced the defense with 49Â digs over the seven sets.
