FREDONIA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team capped off regular season SUNYAC play with a straight-set sweep of Fredonia on Saturday afternoon. The Knights improved to 11-9 overall and 6-3 in conference action to clinch the No. 4 seed for the postseason tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Knights got off to a slow start in the opening set, trailing by three points at 11-8. Geneseo quickly bounced back and ran four-straight points to take their first lead of the set at 12-11. They were able to kept the momentum rolling and went on to win 25-21 after a kill from junior middle blocker Alisiana Muscoreil on set point.
• Junior outside hitter Madison Popielski got the Knights off to a hot start in the second set, tallying a block on the first point and then two service aces during a 6-0 start. Geneseo never looked back, and another kill from Muscoreil on set point clinched the 25-11 victory.
• Fredonia fought back in the third set, keeping it close until Geneseo was able to win six of the final eight points to secure the sweep with a score of 25-21.

QUICK FACTS

• Senior middle blocker Jackie Borland led the offense with seven kills and a hitting percentage of .333.
• Sophomore setter Jenna Garvey tallied 11 assists, while senior libero Emily Haber led the defense with 18 digs.
• Geneseo has now won five-straight matches against the Blue Devils.
