Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Mulderig's Game-Winner Lifts Men's Soccer To 1-0 Victory Over Buffalo St.

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team battled their way to a 1-0 win against visiting Buffalo State in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchup on Wednesday night at College Stadium. Senior midfielder Liam Mulderig scored off his own rebound with just over a minute remaining in the game to give the Knights the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Knights fought hard in a tightly contested first half and recorded two corner kicks as well as one shot on goal, but were unable to convert in the first frame and the game entered halftime at 0-0.
  • Geneseo put up a pair of quick shots on goal in the 57th and 58th minute that could have broken the scoreless tie, but were saved by the Bengals goalkeeper.
  • Senior midfielder Justin Arilotta put up two shots on goal in the second half to try and put the Knights on the board, but the game headed towards the 90th minute with all signs pointing towards a 0-0 tie.
  • Following a red card with 1:27 left in the game, the Knights were playing a man down and senior midfielder Liam Mulderig recovered his own shot off a breakaway in the 88th minute and immediately put up another shot that dribbled past the goalkeeper for the only score of the night. Adam Astarita recovered a loose ball off a Buffalo St. free kick and played a beautiful ball down the field that led to the breakaway by Mulderig.
