Field Hockey Earns Victory Over Visiting Keuka, 4-0

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo Field Hockey team tallied a 4-0 win over visiting Keuka on Wednesday night at College Stadium. The victory marked the Knights' 10th-consecutive win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the early stages of the game, junior forward Katrina Clare fired a shot onto the pads of the goalkeeper. First-year midfielder Sam Lewis collected the rebound and slid it past the diving goalkeeper to make it 1-0.
  • Lewis struck again just 23 seconds later after the Knights intercepted the ball on the restart. Senior midfielder Cassidy Sturdevant slid a pass over the left side of the attacking zone and Lewis finished it with a driven shot just inside the far post.
  • Later in the first period, Emma Fon worked against the defense on the left side, creating space for a centering pass. Fon connected with Ada Roe on the back post, who fired a shot into the open net to make it 3-0.
  • Just under five minutes into the second period, the Knights earned a penalty corner. Hanna Pochobradsky drove a pass to the back post where Emily Cortese shot it into the cage to make it 4-0.
  • Geneseo held Keuka to just two shots and only one attempt on goal as the Knights kept Keuka off the board for the shutout.

QUICK FACTS
  • Lewis tallied her second-career multi-goal game, scoring her seventh and eighth goals of the season, tying Katrina Clare for the team lead.

  • Sarah Quinlan made one save in net, recording the win in goal while Lilly Spitz did not face a shot on goal in the third or fourth quarter. The two goalkeepers combined for the Knights' ninth shutout of the season.
  • Geneseo earned its 10th-straight victory, the team's longest winning streak since 2019 when the Knights won a program-record 16 games in a row.
