Men's Basketball Downed By Oneonta, 75-64

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team couldn't pull off the season sweep of Oneonta as they fell on the road Friday night, 75-64.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Knights found themselves in a hole early on, trailing 14-6 just over seven minutes into the action. A three from graduate guard Terrance Nichols cut the lead to five points, but the Red Dragons were hot from the floor early on and led by as many as 17 points in the opening half.
  • A three-point shot from Raymond Grabowski capped off a 11-0 run for Geneseo in the opening half as they cut the score to 32-26 with four minutes remaining before halftime. Oneonta went on to regain some momentum before the break by extending their lead to 10 points.
  • The Red Dragons went on to take a 20-point advantage in the second half, but the Knights were able to mount a comeback attempt and cut the Red Dragon's lead to six points with three minutes left after a made jumper from Nichols.
  • Geneseo was only able to manage two points in the final three minutes after the basket from Nichols and Oneonta went to avenge its loss from earlier this season with a 75-64 win.

QUICK FACTS

  • Senior forward Michael Gannon led the scoring effort for the Knights with 18 points, while Nichols chipped in 17.
  • Geneseo struggled on the boards, bringing down 21 rebounds compared to 34 from the Red Dragons.
