Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team improved to 3-0 in SUNYAC play on Wednesday night as they defeated Cortland, 76-70.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights found themselves in an early hole against Cortland, trailing 16-9 seven minutes into the action. However, they quickly rebounded and back-to-back three's from senior forward Michael Gannon tied the game at 23-23.
- Both teams continued to trade buckets, and with under a minute left in the first half the Red Dragons tied the game at 38. Junior guard Cole Kattan made sure the Knights went to half with a lead though as he drained a three-point shot with 24 seconds left to make it a 41-38 advantage.
- The second half of action was dominated by Geneseo as they quickly jumped ahead by double-digits. Junior forward Kevin Ranaghan made a layup six minutes in to go up 53-43, and then junior guard Harrison Dignan made a three on the next possession to make it 56-45.
- With all the momentum on their side, the Knights went ahead by as much as 19 points at 68-49 after a made three from Kattan.
- Despite Cortland's best efforts to come back, Geneseo held on down the stretch to secure the 76-70 victory.
QUICK FACTS
- In just 17 minutes off the bench, Kattan led all scorers in the game with 19 points on 7-9 shooting from the field and 3-3 shooting from behind the arc.
- Dignan posted more assists than the entire Cortland roster, tallying 12 of his own compared to 11 from the Red Dragons.
- Geneseo is 3-0 in SUNYAC play for the first time since the 2012-13 season, when they defeated Cortland, Oneonta, and New Paltz to begin conference action.

The Knights will travel to Houghton on Saturday Dec. 11 at 4 p.m. for their final home game before the semester break.
