Box Score FREDONIA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team opened up its SUNYAC season in dramatic fashion as they defeated Fredonia 81-80 behind a last second bucket from senior forward Michael Gannon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game opened up with both teams changing leads early on, and then back-to-back three's from Raymond Grabowski and Gannon gave the Knights some momentum which led to a 28-22 advantage. However, the Blue Devils fought back and took a 40-37 lead into halftime.
- Late in the second half, a layup from graduate student Terrance Nichols gave Geneseo a double-digit lead at 69-59.
- Fredonia wasn't going away and slowly chipped into the Knights lead until a three-point basket with three seconds left finally gave them a 80-79 lead.
- Gannon stepped up in the clutch for the Knights and delivered the game-winning bucket with 0.3 seconds remaining on the clock to make the Knights 1-0 in SUNYAC play.
QUICK FACTS
- Gannon led the game in scoring with 23 points, while Grabowski, Nichols, and Sebastian Pacheco all reached double-digits as well with 16, 15, and 10, respectively.
- Harrison Dignan, Gannon, and Pacheco each grabbed six rebounds to lead Geneseo on the glass.
- The Knights dominated inside the paint, outscoring the Blue Devils 38-22.
