Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior forward Tyson Empey netted a hat trick, scoring twice in the third period as the Knights pulled away from visiting Neumann for a 7-4 victory Saturday evening at Ira S. Wilson Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo pulled ahead, 1-0, in the first period when sophomore forward Henry Cleghorn finished a breakaway.
- The Knights added three goals in the second period to take a 4-0 lead as Empey, senior defenseman Cam Russell and junior forward Andrew Hart each scored in the frame.
- Neumann scored a minute before the second intermission as the Knights led, 4-1, after two periods.
- Empey scored his second goal to open the third period, but Neumann followed with three-straight scores to pull within one goal, 5-4, with 10:50 to play.
- Empey completed his hat trick with 6:40 to play and Cleghorn added an empty-net goal to extend the Knights lead as Geneseo held on for the victory.
QUICK FACTS
- Empey recorded his second hat trick of the season, also scoring three goals in the Knights' 9-1 victory over Oswego (Nov. 16).
