GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior forward Alex Merhige led the Knights in scoring with 14 points, but it was visiting Oneonta who earned the victory, 89-54, at Schrader Gymnasium, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Red Dragons jumped out to an 8-2 advantage before Sophomore guard Elijah Wingfield connected on a three-point attempt at the 17:00 mark to cut Geneseo's deficit to three points.

• Sophomore forward Michael Gannon netted six points in the first half to fuel a 41.4% (12-for-29) shooting performance from the Knights in the first half, but Oneonta led at the break, 45-32.

• The Red Dragons began the second half with a 13-2 scoring run, halted by a layup from Merhige with 14:48 remaining in the contest, making it a 58-36 ballgame in advantage to Oneonta.

• First-year guard Aaron Davis scored four points in the final minutes of the contest, but it was the Red Dragons holding onto their advantage until the conclusion of the game.

QUICK FACTS

• Gannon and Davis both finished in double figures in scoring, each contributing 10 points.

• Junior forward Joseph Harclerode finished with six offensive rebounds, matching a season-best (vs. Wilson, Nov. 15).

• Senior guard Terence Rogers led Geneseo with three assists, tied for the game-high.

• The Knights had 20 bench points, with first-year forward Raymond Grabowski and sophomore forward Tim Alejo both scoring their first career baskets in the closing minutes of the game.
