Box Score HERSHEY, Pa. - SUNY Geneseo first-year goaltender Matthew Petizian made 24 saves on the way to a 3-1 victory over the Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen on Saturday evening in Hershey.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With 3:28 to play in the first period, first-year goaltender Matthew Petizian made a big save as he dove across his own crease to preserve a 0-0 tie.
- After one period of play, the score was 0-0 despite Geneseo's advantage on shots-on-goal (20-6) and two power play opportunities.
- At the 6:23 mark in the second period, sophomore forward Henry Cleghorn scored on a redirected shot from senior defender Tanner Salsberry, breaking the tie, 1-0.
- Early in the third period, Lebanon Valley evened the game at 1-1. At the 13:16 mark, Geneseo retook the lead on a goal from junior defender Kyle Hartman, his first goal of the season.
- The Knights successfully killed off two penalties within the last seven minutes of the third period to hold onto their 2-1 lead. With 0:54 remaining in the game, senior forward Conlan Keenan effortlessly buried an empty net goal, putting the game away, 3-1.
