Women's Tennis Holds On To Defeat Fredonia, 7-2

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team earned three three-set singles wins to clinch a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory over Fredonia, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Sam Montague and junior Dana Sorrentino earned an 8-7 victory at first doubles while sophomore Grace Klomp and junior Catherine Gluchowski snatched an 8-1 victory at third doubles to give the Knights a 2-1 lead after doubles play.

Sorrentino and Klomp each earned straight-set victory at fourth and fifth singles, respectively as the Knights pulled ahead, 4-1. Montague, sophomore Natalia Krol and sophomore Sophia Alkhouri Stuart each secured three-set victories to seal the team win for Geneseo.

Geneseo celebrated senior day before the match, honoring Montague, the team's lone senior.

The Knights improve to 5-0, 4-0 in SUNYAC play, and will return to action on Friday, Sept. 27 against St. John Fisher at 4:00 p.m.
