Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – Junior forward Joseph Harclerode finished with 14 points and a team-high 11 rebounds, but it was visiting Cortland who prevailed, 75-66, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action at Schrader Gymnasium, Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Red Dragons jumped out to a 10-2 advantage three minutes into the contest. Junior forward Alex Merhige made a layup at the 14:53 mark to cut Geneseo's deficit to 15-7.
- The Knights began a 10-2 scoring run with 8:04 remaining in the half, but still trailed, 25-21, with 2:08 remaining. Harclerode finished a layup with two seconds left, cutting the deficit to five points, 30-25, going into the break.
- Geneseo opened up the second half with a 20-7 run, capped by a three-pointer from sophomore forward Michael Gannon. The tally gave the Knights a 45-37 lead at the 14:28 mark, their largest lead of the game.
- Despite seven points and two rebounds in the final 11:38 of the contest from sophomore guard Elijah Wingfield, Cortland regained its advantage with 3:20 remaining and never relinquished the lead.
GAME NOTES
- Wingfield and Gannon joined Harclerode in finishing with 14 points, all tied for the team-high.
- First-year guard Harrison Dignan recorded a team-high five assists, tying his career-high.
- Wingfield had a 6-8 shooting performance from the free throw line, as well as contributing three steals on the defensive end.
- Geneseo outscored the Red Dragons in the paint, 36-24.
