Box Score POTSDAM, N.Y. - Junior guard Zack Panebianco sunk the game-winning jumper with 1.4 seconds remaining as the Knights earned a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory on the road over Potsdam, 76-74.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights (9-8, 6-4 SUNYAC) led by as many as 10 points as senior guard Kevin Crockett drilled a three-pointer to give Geneseo an early 15-5 lead with 16:04 left in the first half, but Potsdam used a 20-9 run to take a 25-24 lead with 8:29 to go in the period.
- Sophomore guard Terrance Nichols scored eight first half points, include Geneseo's final five points of the period, as the Knights took a 38-35 lead into the halftime break.
- The Bears opened the second half with a 14-6 run to take a 49-44 lead, and went in front by as many as seven points in the second half.
- Geneseo trailed, 72-65, with 3:14 remaining, but a pair of layups by sophomore forward Tommy Eastman and a clutch three-pointer from junior guard Quinn Carey tied the game at 72-72 with 1:01 to play.
- Sophomore guard Tim Quashie gave the Knights a 74-72 lead with a driving layup but the Bears tied the game with a pair of free throws with 24 seconds to play.
- On the final possession, Panebianco broke down a defender on the right wing and knocked down a step-back jumper with 1.4 seconds remaining to give the Knights the lead and the win.
QUICK FACTS
- Eastman led the Knights with 16 points and eight rebounds while Crockett scored 15. Carey netted 12 and Panebianco finished with 10 points and five assists.
- Geneseo shot 52.5% (32-for-61) from the floor, improving to 7-0 on the season in games when they shoot 50.0% or better from the floor.
- The Knights finished with a season-low three made free throws, tying a season-low with only four attempts from the line.
